Ice Castles

Ice Castles, a movie about Ice Skating, love and the finding of one self in amongst a world full of trouble. I remember this movie from my youth and always found that it made me think and made me feel deeply. The ice skating was fantastic, it got me interested in watching the Olympics Ice Skating competitions just to see how good some of the people were. Anyway the soundtrack is really good for this film. It was done by Marvin Hamlisch. You may recall that name but its not too familiar. 
Anyway I don't have much more to say about this film except I have some links and clips.

Well that is all I could find. Just variations on the the Through the Eyes of Love theme. well I know people can only hear that soo much. Really though the soundtrack is great and at a cheap price on Amazon. Check it out. Next week is Revenge of the Pink Panther. See ya then.

Halloween (1978)

Halloween, a movie about a psychotic killer who preys on a high school girl. Yes its your typical slasher film. The only reason I feature this movie is because of the soundtrack and its iconic theme. John Carpenter directed this film and also did the music. He still to this day makes people think of the theme when they see the updated movies. Well that is about all I will say about this film.

Grease (1978)

Grease, One of the best High School Musical movies ever made. You have John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John and more. Its about two people who met one summer and when they go back to school they are completely different people. Its about rival gangs, teen pregnancy, acceptance, peer pressure, conformity and lots of other heavy issues. Of course you are taken along for the ride with Sandy and Danny as they try to get through high school together while trying not to conform to other people. Here is one of the best soundtracks for a musical. It evoked many cool themes throughout the years and has become a full broadway musical as well. 

I enjoyed this soundtrack enormously, it's a favorite of my wife and I'd love to share some links with you.

Foul Play

Foul Play, a movie about a woman who was at the wrong place at the wrong time, Chevy Chase was involved too. This is a murder mystery movie and the soundtrack is very 70's but its a hilarious movie to enjoy with friends. I really enjoyed the soundtrack. I was going to present The Big Sleep but it was the wrong version. If you want to see a good version of that movie find the old one with Humphrey Bogart. Oh I'm caught off on a tangent. This movie was made popular with the theme by Barry Manilow.

The Hobbit (The Animated Movie)

The Hobbit, a beloved classic by J.R.R. Tolkien. The animated movie stood out in 1977 for its advance in animation and the music was indeed unique to the period. This is way before the movies we know today and it was concise and complete in one movie. The music was done by Maury Laws who set a standard for much of the music of the time. This was a light hearted movie with no real darkness to it. I truly enjoyed seeing this when it was out to video. 

If a person wants to collect the soundtrack for this movie you would have a difficult time finding it.
