The Black Hole

The Black Hole, a Disney movie that wasn't very Disney. It was during the dark time of the 70's and Disney wanted to try Science Fiction. Yes this was a great movie with robots, crazy, mad scientist, and Earnest Borgnine. Lasers, cowboys in space, terror and mayhem. This soundtrack truly was unique for the sweeping score and the ominus focus on the music. There was a feeling of what is around the next corner when listening to the music. It was very well done and I really like it. I even own the soundtrack.

Here is the Amazon link to The Black Hole soundtrack

There is no link for ITunes for The Black Hole but I of course have links to some of the wonderful music!

Moonraker

Moonraker, Ah another James Bond film about James Bond (Roger Moore) finding a missing plane called Moonraker. Little does he realize that the villians have constructed a space station. He gets pursued by a fan favorite Jaws. He also is accompanied by the beautiful Holly Goodhead (Lois Chiles) to get the plane found, get the CIA up to the station and have space battles while he confronts the Bad Guy Hugo Drax. Anyway guns, gadgets, women and Jaws all in the same film. Its fun and entertaining. The soundtrack is also really great!

Here are some Youtube clips from the film for the John Barry score.

this was the longest song in the film

The Muppet Movie

The Muppet Movie.
You get muppets, Jim Hensen, and a ton of cameo appearances.  Its a story about a frog named Kermit who is discovered by Dom Deluise and tells him to find fame and fortune in hollywood. Along the path to stardom, Kermit discovers a sinster plot by a man who wants to make him famous in another way. Frog Legs Restuarant wants him as their spokesman. Kermit declines and is joined by a bunch of wayward friends like Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Dr. Teeth and his band, Bunsen and Beeker and more. This is a great soundtrack full of warmth and humor.

Alien (1979)

Alien, a movie about a group of intersteller travelers answering a distress call on a distant planet where there is already a ship there. The crew comprises of your typical gung ho captain, the first officer, Ripley (Sigorney Weaver) and several other crew who throughout the film die horrible deaths. In their investigations they find eggs of some alien race. Once one of the face huggers attaches itself to a crew member and spawns an alien more come about. This score composed by Jerry Goldsmith is very iconic, creepy, sweeping and moody. It really introduces you to the world of Alien and leads you through a story in music until the climax where Ripley escapes.

Here is the Link to Amazon. The soundtrack is really expensive here, but you get two disc of music.

On ITunes you can only get the theme to Alien. Sorry.  But I have some great Youtube clips for it.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Star Trek: The Motion Picture, a great feat in music history for Jerry Goldsmith. The sweeping score is fantastic and the iconic music makes you feel warm and fuzzy. Its about the crew of the Enterprise back together after their five year mission and they are investigating a strange source of power that is destroying ships and outpost. The source is a satellite merged with alien technology. VEGER is what it called itself. Well we all know it as Voyager II. Anyway action adventure, long sweeping shots of the Enterprise, and Spock in a spacesuit. Despite the faults of the movie, the score if you buy it, is actually very good. The movie score in the film repeats itself, but with the music it doesn't. Anyway I would like to share some links with you for your enjoyment.

There is no ITunes link unfortunately but I will give you some samples of the wonderful music of the film.

This was the main theme to Star Trek and the Klingon Attack.

Here is the Enterprise theme

This is Ilia's Theme...

Superman

It's a bird, It's a plane, no it's Superman! This is the ultimate adventure movie of superheroes. Its about a boy getting sent away from his planet to live on a foreign planet and right wrongs, to grow up to be a great superhero. This is what the new superman should have been. Not too serious, a whole lot of fun and no pointless destruction. The music of course is iconic, anyone who has heard the Superman theme knows its Superman. The composer of course is John Williams. The new soundtrack to Man of Steel is done by Hans Zimmer. Where is the theme to that movie? It doesn't exist. There is no real theme. I miss that with these type of movies. You should be able to pick out a theme to a superhero movie and say "Hey that's this such and such movie theme". But today people are not as keen on the soundtrack as they are the movie.

I have several links or youtube links I will share with you.

Starting with the Amazon link to Superman the Movie The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Here is the ITunes link for Superman the Soundtrack

Revenge of the Pink Panther

Revenge of the Pink Panther,
Ah another Peter Sellers movie in which he plays Inspector Clouseau. Yes, Its about a Mafia boss trying to off Clouseau and also its about the Crazy Cheif Dreyfuss who is still trying to kill Clouseau. Yes there is mayhem and murder, there are sexy women such as Dyan Cannon who is the love interest for Clouseau. Anyway its a fun movie that ends up in a Chinese Fireworks warehouse. You have to see this movie to enjoy it. Its slapstick comedy and Sellers at his best. I really enjoyed the soundtrack, and continue to enjoy it. I am going to post some links to where you can appreciate it as well.
