Blade Runner
Do androids dream of electric sheep? Phillip K. Dick explained it well in his book that the movie Blade Runner is based upon. Is it similar to the book? In a word, No. The book is very different from Ridley Scott's vision of the future with a film noir touch to everything. We get Harrison Ford, Rudger Hauer, and Sean Young. This vision of the future brought many sci-fi fans together to enjoy an experience that many hadn't seen and probably wouldn't be repeated. The score is very different from other peices of music. It definately has an other worldly feel. Also it has the classic detective feel as well. Things are very different in this movie but also people keep hoping that there will be a sequel. I enjoy this score for what it is and Vangelis does a great job.
Here is the Amazon link to the Score. You also get the digital version along with the physical CD.

Conan The Barbarian
The Cimereon comes to you from the dark hills of his country, he seeks to ravage and be a conquerer! He goes up against James Earl Jones, He goes on a quest to defeat an enemy. The score is done by Basil Poledouris who is well known for scores like The Hunt for Red October, and Cherry 2000, and many others.. This score is full of epic fantasy themes, it gives us Fantasy in a way that we don't get now. I really like this score. It reminds me of Red Sonja as well. Anyway I don't have much more to talk about except that the real plot is basic revenge. A vengeful barbarian warrior sets off to avenge his tribe and his parents whom were slain by an evil sorcerer and his warriors when he was a boy.

The Dark Crystal
This movie is about
- Jen (Stephen Garlick), raised by the noble race called the Mystics, has been told that he is the last survivor of his own race, the Gelflings. He sets out to try to find a shard of the dark crystal, a powerful gem that once provided balance to the universe. After the crystal was broken, the evil Skeksis used sinister means to gain control. Jen believes that he can repair the dark crystal and bring peace back to the world, if he can only find the remaining shard. Its an epic Fantasy with Jim Hensen's muppetry at its finest. It can be really creepy, but it never was meant to be kid friendly. Jim Hensen went for a dark feel to the movie and stayed with it til the very end, when you get the happy ending.
The score is done by Trevor Jones and its really a good score, great fantasy feel and very sweeping movements. I really enjoyed this score.
You can't get the soundtrack on ITunes but I'm sure you can find it from soundtrack.net. Anyway here are some clips I enjoyed from the film. I hope you like them as well.

This is the love theme between the Gelflings.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan is a movie about one man's quest for revenge. Kirk settled Khan and his crew from the Botany Bay ship on a planet some fifteen years before during the five year mission and Now Khan has escaped that hellish planet in which he meets Chekov and his Captain whom he puts under mind control. The score is done by James Horner and is fantastical, beautiful and sweeping. The music takes you on the journey, seeing the evil creatures that Khan uses to take over minds, to see the dead bodies on the science station and the ultimate return of the Enterprise. The most saddest moment in the film though is when Spock sacrifices himself for the good of the many.
His quote "The good of the many outway the good of the few, or the one". This is one of my favorite scores! Its music continues to envoke a spirit of adventure in films that isn't there right now. I hope someday that people realize we need to inspire the imagination once again with movies or we lose all enjoyment out of the movie experience.
I have the links to Amazon, the first is the Expanded Soundtrack.

E.T. The Extra Terrestrial
E.T. The Extra Terrestrial is a film about an alien who is stranded on Earth after his kind accedentily left him behind. What moves forward is kids learning about him, having adventures and glowing fingers. The military get involved and everything gets dangerous for awhile but then in the end E.T.'s alien family come back for him. This movie was alright, but the soundtrack was amazing, once again John Williams blows us away with a story in music with the sweeping score that carries us through the film.

The Road Warrior
The Road Warrior, some could say the Best Mad Max film of the trilogy. Also you could say a much better soundtrack than the first film. Once again Brian May steps up to bring this world of crazy cars, insane drivers and maniac villians to life! We once again find Max helping a small community with plenty of gas against a band of bandits. Thus the weird outfits and postapocalyptic clothes.
The music soars higher than the first film and the action is more intense. I really like this soundtrack and have added it.
